Coriolanus
By William Shakespeare

OVO @ Maltings Arts Theatre
We say we want principled politicians who speak their mind, but what would happen if we actually got one?
The great war hero Coriolanus is out of his league in the cuthroat world of domestic politics, where he is punished for his refusal to speak anything less than exactly what he believes.
With its account of a nation reeling under economic crisis, rife with internal conflict and embroiled in a drawn-out military campaign, Coriolanus is truly a play for our times.
OVO substitutes the Roman mob of the first century BC for today’s Greek riots, Tea Party and Occupy movement in a visceral, physical and darkly comic production.
A new adaptation for the RSC Open Stages Festival with original songs by David Podd.
