OVO creates innovative, imaginative and inspiring theatre.
We present our award winning and critically acclaimed productions at The Maltings Theatre, our home in St Albans in the south of England.
We also appear regularly at other theatres around the UK, and at spectacular open air venues including the Minack Theatre in Cornwall and the Roman Theatre of Verulamium.

OVO was founded in 2002 by Adam Nichols and Simon Nicholas. Our name comes from the latin ‘ab ovo’ meaning ‘from the beginning’. OVO is a charitable incorporated organisation number 1159409, governed by a board of trustees.
National Lockdown – January 2021
Following the government’s decision to introduce a further national lockdown in England, OVO’s activities are currently paused. Along with every other theatre venue and company in the country we are in the process of reviewing our plans for this year and will announce our future programme of productions just as soon as the government gives theatres the go-ahead to re-open. Existing ticketholders for all our productions will be contacted to advise them of necessary arrangements. Please do not contact our box office at this time – rest assured we will be in touch as soon as we can. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support for OVO. Live theatre will return to excite, engage and entertain us all in 2021.
